Hi, I just love this application.
The resulted website from MY library of ebooks is amazing.

I was wondering if, in the next release, you could include a feature, to view the books in a turning fashion, like in calbre ?
I like to see my books rolling, one after the other.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for the praise ; the carousel idea is cool, I wonder if it’s difficult to do.
I’ve created a tracker for this new feature request, feel free to register to it so you’ll know when we implement it !

Could you fix the problem with special characters in the summary book. They don’t appears correctly or “hide” all text for example with the character “í”

    I found a bug in BETA 2.5 Update 1

I used it to generate the catalogs from calibre and some of the book links didn’t work. I did some research and found that it is “case sensitive” in 2.5 and wasn’t in 2.4. In this case, “The Dogs of the Moon” is being ignored for the file name if it is instead “The Dogs Of The Moon”.

My recommendation is to make it not case sensitive since calibre gives each book it’s number case sensitivity shouldn’t be a factor.

I also checked and made sure that the information for the books were up-to-date before I ran calibre2opds and generated the library catalog.

Otherwise, I like the BETA as it resolved other issues and the product in general as it gives me access to my libraries when I travel.

    When will be released 3.0?

    @MoBO
    @calibre2opds team

subject : “How To” for Synology

I’ve one at home, a second is coming soon. Calibre2opds works perfectly, I like very much to browse catalog with my PC off.

I can create this “how to”, but …. I’m french and my english is very poor..
Is it a problem / interest for anybody if I create it in french ?
As it will be my first how to, I don’t know the best way to do at this time : video, pdf, etc…
Let me know what would be better.

PS : still waiting for release 3.0, may I suggest :
    - possibility of various/custom skins or background images for HTML pages
    - on HTML pages, add a link, for each ebook, to open the file(s) on devices or PC (instead of download) : it will be very helpfull in my local network, for reading on devices and PC without downloading each ebook from the NAS. I think it should be an option to check or not in calibre2opds before generating catalogs and/or html.

You mention on other pages that there is a Mac .dmg file to download from this page.

I look around here and see no mention of the Mac or .dmg file anywhere.

3.0 Is not generating the detailed book summaries for me. I can toggle whether or not the summary contains Series, Tags or Publisher, but the metadata in the calibre “comments” section is not coming across. When I changed back to 2.5 it worked again.

Are you using rev 150 or 151? A typo in rev 150 could cause this which was why rev 151 was promptly uploaded.

Thanks for pointing this out. When I checked the version I noticed that I was not using rev 151. I don’t think the latest version was in the windows installer when I downloaded. Either that or the old version was in my browser cache. In any case, downloaded again, re-installed and it works perfectly on my Win7 64x system. Thanks for the fantastic work Guys/Gals. My online catalogue is a deam.

    Problem with Windows 7 64-bit and Calibre2OPDS:
After choosing install derictory I click Next and get to the blank page, there I have another Next button. Then I click that installation will freeze and nothing happen.
    So I couldn’t install now Calibre2OPDS

    Great.
This is the best complement for Calibre application.
I have run caibre-opds in my Synology DS111 and works perfectly. I’d like more improvements in the future
    Thanks

@Marcos @Cyana: as far as I can understand it’s something related with Java. For instance, if you install JDK (Developer’s Kit) instead of JRE, it’s being stuck on a blank screen. Try to install (or delete and then reinstall) the latest JRE and it should work

    Great job ! (French version)
Bug : links to next page in “collections” do not work (duplicate number in url)
    Improvements:
    - make navigation easier : add ‘previous page’ buttons
    - add direct access to a chosen page number
    - add generic A to Z buttons in alphabetical pages
    - repeat navigation buttons at the top of pages
    - hyperlinkize the author names in all books listing
    Thanks again

    Just a comment.
accented vowels and special characters like ñ, crashes the “comment” field.
I need to run an external patch in my calibre database (metadata.db), before generate the catalog, in order to replace these special characters for the standard html.
Will be a good improvement in the future.

    Nice job!

If this is still the case with the 3.1 release, can you please consider supplying a sample database that illustrates the problem plus steps to recreate it. We do not know about any remaining issues in this area.

If you have a problem database then you should raise an issue via the Calibre2Opds Issue register at http://calibre2opds.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/and then either attach the database directly (if it is small enough) or provide a link from which it an be downloaded. It can also be useful to provide a calibre2opds log from a run that goes wrong.

Wonderful !!!. I’ve run the Calibre2OPDS v3.1 and the special characters, now, appear correctly. Could be a bug only in a previous revision 2.4 or, even, an old Java?.
My personal opinion: Calibre2OPDS is the perfect complement for Calibre. Now I could share my personal library, within a Synology DS111
        Thanks

If you have to setup environment variable JAVA_HOME manually, please pay attention that you have to use the ‘dos’ shortcut c:\progra~2 and not c:\program files (x86) as the spaces don’t work….

      14/05/2012 at 08:18 | #32

This should not be the case if you are using the latest version of the rungui.cmd or run.md files. If you think it is still an issue, then please raise an appropriate issue via the Calibre 2opds Issue register at http://calibre2opds.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/ .

Problems with non-ASCII characters in comments fields was a known issue in the calibre2opds 2.x series of releases. Because of the date of your original post I thought you were seeing it in the 3.0 release for which it is fixed as far as I know.

A little issue creating the catalog:
Calibre2OPDS clears all web folder whenever creates the catalog. I have a file for restrict the web access, called .htaccess
Each time the catalog is updated, I need restore the file .htaccess. Any idea to fix it?

  24. itimpi
    21/05/2012 at 21:55 | #35

The only suggestion I have for the short term is to move that file up a level into the Calibre library level. I believe that settings are typically inherited by sub-folders when using .htaccess files to control access?

I will make a note for the next release of Calibre2opds to add that particular file as one that should not be deleted when calibre2opds is trying to delete what it thinks are superfluous files within the catalog structure.

The 3.0 release introduced Customization features as described at http://calibre2opds.com/read-the-documentation/development/customization/. This could be used for this sort of capability.

Maybe I’m missing something… I downloaded what I thought was the linux version of calibre2opds but got the Windows version instead. I tried this several times, and got the same results. Then I went to Softpedia, only to discover when I tried to download the linux version it was removed from their site. What am I missing here?

    • itimpi
      14/06/2012 at 16:17 | #40

What makes you think it is the Windows” version? If it is the .jar file then it is the Linux version.as the Windows version is the .exe file. In fact the only difference is that the Windows version has the .jar file wrapped inside a .exe file as all versions of Calibre2Opds (Windows, Linux, Mac) have the same underlying Java binaries – it is only the installer that varies.

        14/06/2012 at 23:05 | #41

I stand corrected – my issue then is ignorance, I can’t seem to install this on my laptop which is running, Ubuntu 12.04. Isn’t there suppose to be an sh script? Anyways, do you know where I can find an installation tutorial or instructions that would guide me through the installation process? Your help would be appreciated! Thanks

    15/06/2012 at 19:19 | #42

The download is just a Java program. If you have Java installed on your system then ypou should be able to simply run it, and it will take you through the installation process. The screen-shots are virtually identical to the Windows ones except that paths will reflect a Linux environment.

I am afraid I do not know enough about Ubuntu to know how you check if Java is installed, and assuming it is whether you have to do anything special to run Java programs! On the other versions of Linux I have used I can simply double-click the downloaded file.and the system recognises it as a Java program and starts it appropriately.

OK, this is what I did to resolve my dilemma. Rather than use the downloaded Linux file, I downloaded the “Manual Install (Platform independent)” one. After extracting the zipped file, I opened a terminal and ran it using the following command: sh ./rungui.sh

It’s now working. Thanks for your help! :)
